I can’t quite believe I’m writing a review of The Night at the Museum—but despite its goofiness, it’s a fun little book that families might want to know about. I found it at a thrift store with no intention of bringing it home, but my daughter recognized it as the book that inspired the Night at the Museum movies, and that was enough to convince us to give it a try. I’m glad we did.
Had this been a cash-in version of the film, I wouldn’t have given it a second glance. But since this is the original idea that inspired the movie franchise, I found myself laughing and genuinely impressed by the quirky charm and creative premise. It’s absurd, imaginative, and entirely its own thing.
I’d recommend this to families looking for something light and silly to enjoy together—especially as a lead-up to movie night. Sometimes it’s delightful to be surprised by the unexpected.
