Book Review 1: A Triumph for Flavius
The book that I chose to read is A Triumph for Flavius. I checked out ten books from the library, and from the titles I picked the one that looked the most interesting. I also like Ancient Roman History. In this book I enjoyed the heroism of some of the characters like Ariphon, Flavius, and Clymene. Flavius’s mother, Terita, is tender and kind, but his Father, Mummius, is a powerful conqueror.
I think I would give this book a four and three quarter star review out of five because the start was a little slow. I would compare this book to Detectives in Togas because they are both set in Ancient Rome, but this book was more enjoyable for me to read.
A parent might want to know that Roman gods are talked about a lot in this book as well as the evils of slavery. I would recommend this book to nine to thirteen-year-olds who are interested in learning about Ancient Rome through a fast-paced medium sized chapter book.
