Panthers and gators and jewels, oh my! This eye-catching book is over the top amazing! With the main character being 16 year old adventurous, outgoing Toby. Enthusiastic photographer Mr. Evans, the Indian Miki-loko, who saved Toby from certain death by O-kaima, the alligator. Toby's father, doctor Morgan, rescued Miki-lokos tribe from a bad case of smallpox.
I enjoyed Meader's great writing style and impressive choice of words. I did not enjoy how fast he went in the first chapter. I found it hard to follow. This book reminds me of Bruchko by Bruce Olson because of the similar writing styles, characters, and adventure. If you enjoyed Everglades Adventure then you are sure to love Naya Nuki by Kenneth Thomasma.
I was excited to find that there is no rude or inappropriate content. This is a clean, low-intermediate level, realistic book that is suitable for ages 9-13. Come along this journey and experience the wonder of the everglades with Toby Morgan and all of his friends.
